Paths left into NCAA singles championship

One of the major fall tournaments is behind us, and 10 spots have been claimed in the men’s NCAA singles championship draw after last week’s ITA All American Championships. What opportunities remain for qualification?

The NCAA men’s and women’s singles and doubles championships will take place in Athens, GA from November 17-22. This is the third season the event will take place in the fall as the NCAA introduced the change in 2024-25 via a pilot program, moving the singles and doubles championships from the spring. The NCAA announced earlier this year the change would be permanent.

During that pilot program, the NCAA also streamlined the selection process for the event. Prior to fall of 2024, conferences were awarded one automatic qualifier if they had a player in the ITA top 125, with the top-ranked player in the conference receiving the spot. The rest of the field was selected by a committee.

As of 2024, qualification is now given based on concrete results — reach one of the final stages of a significant ITA tournament to earn your spot. Those tournaments include the ITA All American Championships, one of 13 ITA Regionals, one of four ITA Sectionals, or the ITA Conference Masters.

ITA All American qualifiers:

Roger Pascual Ferra (TCU) – Champion
Keegan Rice (Virginia) – Finalist
